The Punjab Compulsory Teaching of the Holy Quran Act, 2018
(Act XVII of 2018) entails that teaching of the Holy Quran is compulsory for Muslims students in all educational institutions (Public Sector / Private Sector / Deeni Madaris) in Punjab.

The Punjab Compulsory Teaching of the Holy Quran (Amendment) Act, 2021 (Act XIV of 2021) binds the teaching of the Holy Quran as a separate compulsory subject for Muslims students in all educational institutions in Punjab. Accordingly, Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB) in its 83rd Board of Governor's (BOG) meeting held on 23.06.2021 revised the Scheme of Studies and included the subject of "Naazrah Quran in Grades 1-V" and "Translation of the Holy Quran for Grades VI-XII" as a separate compulsory subject as per following Schedule:
